How students’ summer activities can help them STAND OUT in the college application process

As your teen is preparing to apply to college, what are they most concerned about? Having a great GPA, SAT/ACT, what courses they’re taking, extracurriculars they’re involved in, writing their college essays…but what about what they’re doing outside the classroom setting? What are they doing when they’re not in class…are they spending their time wisely? What are they doing during those summer breaks from school?

Making good use of summer months is often overlooked by students. But if they can use that time deliberately, not just as downtime, they have an opportunity to grow, develop, and set themselves apart from what other students are doing. Jake Schwartzwald, Associate Director of Everything Summer, shares how to make the best use of that time over those summer months. Join us to learn…

  • Why it’s so important for students to use their summers wisely
  • When students should start planning their summer activities more proactively
  • Different types of activities and programs students could pursue during the summer
  • Where to begin the search for ideas if your kid has no idea how to spend their summer
  • How college admissions offices evaluate summer activities and programs on students’ applications
  • How competitive summer programs might be
  • How to find a balance between getting involved in summer programs, and taking time to relax or go on vacation
